For a bug, it helps a lot to include your iPhone model, iOS version, the sector you were in, your spike, and what happened just before. A screenshot or screen recording is even better.
Frequently asked questions
How do I play?
- Drag left and right below the dashed line to slide your turret under enemies.
- Tap to fire. Hold to charge, and release when the aim line turns solid for a charged shot that pierces the whole line.
- Release the moment the line flashes gold for a PERFECT shot. Hit the pink seam on an enemy for a CRITICAL.
- Tap above the dashed line to throw your spike, then shoot what it hit to set it off. The ring around the spike icon shows its cooldown.
Your very first run starts with a short tutorial that walks through all of this.
Where is my progress saved? Can I move it to a new phone?
Everything is saved on your iPhone only: spikes, levels, mods, Bits, stars and high scores. There is no account or cloud sync, so progress does not transfer between devices, and deleting the app deletes your progress. Restoring your iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup restores the app’s data along with it.
I closed the app in the middle of a run. Is it lost?
No. From sector 2 onward your run is saved as you play. Open the app and the main menu offers CONTINUE, which restarts the sector you were in with the health and wall you had. Sector replays from the Stars screen are practice and are not saved.
I can’t hear anything, or I want it quieter.
NEON plays sound even when your iPhone’s ring/silent switch is set to silent, so use the volume buttons to set the level. If there is no sound at all, turn the volume up while the game is open, check that no Bluetooth headphones are connected, and try closing and reopening the app.
What are Bits and how do I get more?
Bits are earned by destroying enemies and sweeping up what they drop. They are saved the moment you collect them, even if the run ends. Spend them in the Loadout screen on new spikes, spike levels and mods. Bits cannot be bought with real money.
How do I unlock a spike’s ultimate (level 5)?
Beat the first boss, The Firewall, with that spike equipped, and own its levels 2 to 4. The ultimate then becomes available to buy in the Loadout screen. Hold the spike to charge it.
How do stars work?
Each sector you clear is graded on how many of its enemies you destroyed: one star for clearing it, two for 70%, three for 90%, and gold stars for 100%. Open Stars from the main menu to replay any sector you have reached and improve its grade.
Does NEON have ads, in-app purchases or tracking?
No ads, no in-app purchases, no accounts and no tracking. The game collects no personal data at all; see the privacy policy.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. NEON works fully offline.
The game feels slow or my phone gets warm.
Close other apps running in the background and make sure Low Power Mode is off. If it keeps happening, email us your iPhone model and iOS version.
